In the world of reggaeton there’s only one female/male duo. LDA recently completed a video in New Jersey for their song ‘Por Ti’ (For You) featuring Baby Ranks. They are one of the most popular duos out. They took a moment for an interview with
the hottest website in the genre, Reggaetonline.net.

Reggaetonline.net: Can you tell us how you formed this duo and please introduce yourselves?

Baby Psycho: Well, you know this is Baby Psycho, yeaahhhh!

Orquidea Negra: Here I am with Psycho, I’m Negra and we’re LDA.

Reggaetonline.net: What does LDA stand for?

Psycho: It’s simple; we had to use something commercial, Los Dementes Algarete
Negra: Originally, Psycho had given the group that name when we had 6 members then 5, 4, 3. Then we became the first female/male duo in reggaeton.

Psycho: From the whole genre!

Reggaetonline.net: What are you working on today and what can we expect from LDA?

Psycho: We are here for one of the songs off our new album. The album is called ‘Revolutionizing the Genre’ it’s what the genre needs, you know. It’s a collaboration we did with Baby Ranks. We were in agreement and put our efforts together for this song called ‘Por Ti’ (For You).

Negra: ‘Por Ti’ is a song that blends elements of rock with reggaeton. It’s a really good song, as Psycho says. It’s the second single from our new album which will be out soon.

Reggaetonline.net: Why did you choose to make reggaeton music, what drew you to it?

Psycho: Well, in reality, reggaeton is a movement, its fashion, the voice of the youth. It’s what the youth like. But originally we were into hip hop. We’re from New York and we make hip hop music. But this movement of reggaeton drew us in so we bring music to the public, good music. Reggaeton, hip hop, but we always have little surprises, you know, new fusions.

Reggaetonline.net: Negra, why do you think there aren’t many female artists in reggaeton
or at least not many having success?

Negra: I really don’t have the answer. But I believe we still live in a macho world, in Latin America many are still under the impression that the man dominates. So many female artists aren’t given the support to start their careers. But there are some that are doing well and I think that’s the image that should be portrayed to motivate other females to enter the genre.

Reggaetonline.net: What does Reggaeton mean to you?

Psycho: The voice of the youth and it’s going to keep moving forward. And not just for the youth, but the community.

Negra: It’s not just the voice of the youth, but it’s also the only genre that’s united Latin America. It’s not only a hit in one country; it’s the music of the next generation, the latino of the future.

Psycho: Exactly

Reggaetonline.net: You were in Ecuador, what was that like?

Psycho: Yes, we just got back from Ecuador. We did a huge concert in Guayaquil.
Negra: Yes, we performed in the Coliseum in front of, at least, 20,000 people, it went really well. We received a great reception, I never…first time we were in Ecuador and the love was really good.

Psycho: The support was tremendous, tremendous.

Reggaetonline.net: On behalf of Reggaetonline.net I wish you the best.

Both: Thanks
