Aldo y Dandy Biography
Arnaldo Paniagua, better known in the Reggaeton genre as Aldo, was born on August 31, 1984 in Rio Piedras, PR. His artistic partner, Anthony Martinez, otherwise called Dandy, was born in August 27, 1985, also in Rio Piedras, PR.
Aldo and Dandy commenced as a duo in 2003. They searched for a better opportunity of being recognized in the artistic world and longed to fulfill their desires of becoming the best Reggaeton duo.
Nevertheless, the duo had already been introduced to the world in the year 2002 at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, where they entailed in a good relationship as friends and partners in stage and recording studios.
In 2003, the duo met their present musical producer, DJ Memo, who had commenced his career in 2001, but had no artists to develop at the time.
In 2004, Aldo and Dandy shared the stage in a grand Reggaeton event in Orlando, FL with Zion & Lennox, Maestro, John Erick, Tony Dize, Alexis & Fido, and Yaga & Mackie. With the event being a total success, Aldo and Dandy were able to demonstrate that they really possess the talent and the drive to be respected in the Reggaeton world.
This same year they began to record in various studios in the area of Carolina, PR. One of them being the recording studio of DJ Nelson, by where many of the now major exponents of the genre have passed, such as: Tego Calderón, Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, Ivy Queen, Yaga & Mackie, Alexis & Fido, Baby Rasta, Gringo, Héctor El Father, Tito El Bambino, Wisin & Yandel, Zion & Lennox, John Erick, among others.
DJ Nelson being the Godfather of Reggaeton, grants the duo a chance to appear in his musical production Flow La Discoteka, which sold over 100,000 copies.
After being released in that production, they recorded the song, Candela, for the production Da Music Reloaded. After this production was released, DJ Memo was signed by DJ Nelson under Flow Music Corp. Among these events, DJ Memo, who had always carried the Aldo and Dandy duo under his wing, begins to prepare the first Reggaeton production composed only of new talent and gives them the chance to appear in a third compilation. Besides being their third production, Aldo and Dandy also signed a contract to be under Flow Music Corp.
They also participated in the first Reggaeton event in Los Angeles, CA, Reggaeton Invasión 1, where DJ Nelson and DJ Memo performed.
In 2005, they were given the opportunity to acquire respect and recognition after their song Azotala was released in the musical production called Los Bachatones 2005. With a combination of merengue with bachata and a little bit of reggaeton, this song proved to be a hit. This was the song that positioned them where they had always wanted to be, as people already knew who they were from their collaborations in the previous productions.
In this same year, they participated in various events, like the Reggaeton Awards, where they won the award for the Best Performance. The duo also participated in Mix Action Sport, the most important summer event in Puerto Rico. In December of this year, they were also presented in the most important event of the year La Noche de Show de Mix 107.7, an event in which they brought all they had and surpassed the publics expectations with their performance. The year 2005 proved to be a true success for the rising duo.
Beginning 2006, they were participants in the most anticipated Christmas event, which has been annually celebrated for decades by the Puerto Rican people, but 2006 turned out to be the most important festivity of all time. The assistance at the event proved to be record breaking, as more that 25,000 attended. It was in this event, that Aldo and Dandy were able to sing their Azotala hit alongside the man behind la Gasolina, Daddy Yankee.
On April 8, 2006 they had a great presentation with DJ Nelson and DJ Memo at the SE One in London. The event was the first successful massive Reggaeton event in London. Public attendance was at full capacity.
Besides all the activities and performances mentioned here, in 2005 their agenda was also kept very busy with private events. And now, commencing 2006, Aldo and Dandy come with a lot of surprises for everyone.
