Reggaeton star Daddy Yankee, recently named Best Latino Artist by the MTV network, returns as "boss" of urban music with a new disc, his second so far this year, but this time ignores usual industry practices by making it in digital format only.

"It's a disc that's a groundbreaker, because people are expecting pure reggaeton from A to Z as a kind of mainstay of the category," the veteran Puerto Rican rapper said in an interview with EFE on his upcoming production, "King Daddy."

Earlier this year, Daddy Yankee released "Prestige," an album he made with Spain's Natalia Jimenez and that also featured Prince Royce and Emelee.

It also included a remix of "Llegamos a la Disco," with the collaboration of Farruko, De La Ghetto, Arcangel, Baby Rasta & Gringo, Alex Kyza and Kendo Kaponi.

On this occasion, however, the popular Puerto Rican artist joins the music industry's surging digital revolution and is not publishing a physical disc.

Though the practice is frequent enough among newcomers trying to break into the music business on a very basic budget, among best-selling artists like Daddy Yankee it's not something that is seen every day.

"I'm creating a digital revolution," the singer, whose real name is Raymond Ayala, said.

The new production, currently getting its finishing touches, will include the participation of colleagues Arcangel, Farruko, Jay Alvarez, Divino and Yandel.
