“King of Kings,” Don Omar’s latest release, has fans thinking more about the direction of Reggaeton in the future. The highly anticipated album caused a buzz through the Reggaeton community for months before its release. However after purchasing the CD even die hard Don Omar fans are disappointed with a few of the tracks which have been described as pop and sometimes as just wack. Some even ask, “If a powerhouse like Don Omar can fall into trying to cater to the U.S. market and therefore compromise his art how many others will do that as well?”

Steffen Riise Andersen said it best when he stated “People expect too much and got all hyped [about” King of Kings”], and nobody can follow up to that. Everybody has been talking about how good his next [Don Omar] album was gonna be, right after The Last Don and so on. High Hopes equals easy disappointment. That is just how I see it.”

Many fans applaud the fact that there was no direct or indirect of beats produced by Luny Tunes. They also accused some fans of addicted to the way Luny Tunes use the dembow beat. At least no one is denying the beat is not addictive.

Fans agree that some of the best songs on King of Kings are, ‘Reportense,’ ‘Ojitos Chiquitos,’ ‘Conteo,’ ‘Tu no sabes,’ ‘Angelito (Angelito Vuela),’ and ‘Infieles’. Without a doubt Don Omar is more than capable of producing classics and ‘Angelito’ is definite one. Now that many of us have experienced “King of Kings”, we will patiently away Don Omar’s next album to see if it will ultimately define our Don as the true King Of Kings when it comes to Reggaeton.
