Iight I was wonderin, I know merengue came from Venuezela, Ecuador, and Colombia... all those countries first... dominicans adopted it to their country n now its supposedly "theirs" well I was listenin to a perico ripiao song in my grandmothers house and shes ecuadorian. I liked it, but I always wondered why she liked it so i looked it up, happens that it came from those countries. But the thing is, she listens to the dominican merengue I believe and I'm just wondering what are some artists from these countries (ecuador, colombia and veneuzela) who do Merengue over there because I would like to know if they are the same or not... thanks

yes its true, do a google search and you will find out that it says that merengue was from these countries and dominicans made it theirs cuz they are stealers =x just playin... but they did take it from us in south america and are tryin to make it theirs, and im sure merengue from over there sounds the same like the ones in dr, im just not sure how similar but im sure they got perico ripiao over there too.

Da way I see it all da different types of dominican merengue sound so different from da south american merengue that they are a completely different genre. In my opinion merengue is dominican when people think merengue they think D.R, when u in da club da merengue dat gets played is Dominican merengue. if u don't agree than i guess u could say merengue is to D.R wut reggaeton is to P.R

thats also true my friend... but also u gotta understand that reggaeton originated in panama, so people who don't know that are illiterate, well not even.. just that you didn't know but I dunno, I know reggaeton is not really p.r.'s we made it ours but we ain't come up with it, just like merengue sure its theres but everyone from south american basically came up with it... I have yet to hear any merengue from south american n i wanna know how it sounds GRR!!
