In 2006, Reggaeton artists produced hundreds of songs for their fans to enjoy. Many of the biggest Reggaeton productions of year received less than perfect reviews last year, while only a few albums took the spotlight. But no matter how much negative criticism each individual album received, hits from all the different Reggaeton albums in 2006 combined to laid the foundation of another great year of Reggaeton music to perrear to.
Fans around the world were asked to tell Reggaetonline.net their Top 5 Reggaeton songs for 2006. Votes were accepted both in the Reggaetonline.net forums and through emails. Though the job was a little tedious, Reggaetonline staff took the time to tally each vote with care to insure accuracy. The results of this amounted to the very first official Reggaetonline.net TOP 100 chart.
There was no doubt that Wisin & Yandel’s hit ‘Pam Pam’ from their album “Pal' Mundo Deluxe Edition” would be the number one choice for 2006. It was no surprise that the hit song, produced by Luny Tunes & Tainy, received the most votes from fans, giving it the #1 spot of the Reggaetonline.net Top 100 of 2006 chart. 'El Duo de La Historia' had an amazing showing in the top 10, appearing in 4 separate songs, including their part in ‘Royal Rumble’ (from Los Benjamins) which landed the coveted #2 spot, as well as their duo with Hector 'El Father' on 'El Telefono' from “Los Rompediscotekas” which placed 7th. ‘Nadie Como Tu’, the collaboration with Don Omar from their various artists album “Los Vaqueros”, just made the Top 10, at #9. WY Records produced “Los Vaqueros” alone had a total of 8 songs included in Reggaetonline.net’s Top 100, while “Pal' Mundo Deluxe Edition” had 4 songs ranked, proving that Wisin & Yandel were the best artists in 2006 by far.
“Los Benjamins”, the various artists album produced by Luny Tunes & Tainy, lead the list with a total of 9 songs. The 10th track, ‘La Ex’ by Alexis & Fido missed being in the Top 100 by only 6 votes. Along with ‘Royal Rumble,’ super hit ‘Mi Fanatica’ by Arcangel & De La Ghetto proved to be a fan favorite at number 3. The ever talented Randy made the Top 10 twice with his smash hit ‘Soy una Gargola’ from “Gargolas Vol.5” at number 6, as well as the sexy club banger 'Agresivo' at number 4, which in fact features Arcangel along with Randy's partner Jowell.
Rounding off the Top 10 of Reggaetonline’s Oficial Top 100 chart of 2006 is Zion with the unrealeased hit ‘Fantasma’ taking the 5th spot; Don Omar's soft ballad from his “King of Kings” effort, ‘Angelito’ taking the 8th place; and ‘Toma Nena (Manoplazo)’ by Baby Rasta, from his solo album “La Ultima Risa”. “King of Kings” had a total of 6 songs included in the Top 100. Meanwhile, although they didn’t make the Top 10 of the list, Rakim and Ken-Y were very strong on the charts with 6 tracks included from their debut album “Masterpiece”.
